I love the crisp, clean look that dark base cabinets and light uppers provide. It makes the kitchen feel more like a room with the dark grounding the space and feels like furniture instead of a sea of cabinetry.
So very true! There are cabinet manufacturers, and then there are furniture craftmen who do custom cabinets, and if you have a furniture craftsman doing your cabinets they can't help but take every care in detail and in furniture grade finishes (because they are artisans and they won't half dash assembly line do anything.) So the result is fine pieces of furniture in cabinet form. When you move you want to cry, it is like leaving your heirloom dining table, when you have to leave a kitchen like that. My fave is a very dark walnut stain with light top, truly yummy because it is like furniture bottom, and french bakery top.
