Marbleize Trend

Paper for table available at Binders

I decided this weekend I want to decoupage the table that sits behind my sofa in marbleized paper.  Ever since Style Court did a post on this paper its been on my mind.  Of course, when its on your mind you see it every where.
Design Sponge DIY

The effect of marbleizing comes from floating color on water or size (a more viscous solution) and then placing fabric or paper on top to absorb the color.  This technique has been used for centuries.  There are a lot of DIY options  - including this new one from Design Sponge.

This room is at once classic and inspired.  The updating of history is a design thread I am enjoying right now.
If you haven't discovered Dransfield and Ross yet, please take a visit to their website, they have amazing textiles and pillows.  Very fresh and original.

Nick Olsen, the ultimate DIYer covered a simple coffee table in marbleized paper using rubber cement.

Other uses for this paper?  Frame it, line drawers, back bookcases, cover a lampshade, make book sleeves, wrapping paper, cover a cork board, make magnets, wrap a storage box, decoupage a mirror

  4. OH too fun. Can't wait to see your table - please do share photos. I have obsessed with marbled paper/design for ages. My sweet mother has made me some cool boxes, etc. lined with this stuff. And, those D&R napkins are my favorite we carry at the shop. I actually found fabric in the same pattern and I'm having pillows made out of it - so excited to see how they turn out. And, I have those same John Derian holders from Target. I'm clearly on this trend page with you. Now, all I need is that Cynthia Rowley rug...a.maze.ing!!!

  5. Any DIY project end up like this - I make a decision, I sit on it for a few months, I start, realize when I am almost done I forgot to take before pictures, finish. Now that I am aware of this, hopefully I will remember to take before photos. But it still may be a few months until I get to the project!
